Rice Cereal or Oatmeal, Since That's What It Really Was...

We started Addi girl on oatmeal for the first time tonight. (Monday, November 15th)

She took it like a champ! When we gave M her first dosage of baby food (cereal), she was SO not a fan. Addison did really great. She didn't cry once, whereas Makayla cried the whole time. The. whole. time. Addi made some funny faces when she tried it, though. And I was holding her while feeding her so it was slightly difficult, but she did so well! I'm so proud of her!

I'm also proud of me for sticking it out and waiting a little longer than I did with M. We started M on rice cereal when she was 3 months and 3 weeks old because everyone kept telling me to do it because it would keep her fuller longer, blah blah blah blah blah. It didn't work and I didn't really want to start her that early, so this time, I waited until I was ready.

She's been eyeballing our food for a while now, so it was pretty neat to let her try it out. I'm not really sure how she feels about it, though. She kept sticking her tongue out and she made some faces like 'what is this stuff??', but she got the hang of it pretty darn quick.

I'll post pictures tomorrow when I get them off my camera. Just had to make sure I wrote this down somewhere so I didn't forget. :)

*Update: I thought it was rice cereal, but it was oatmeal.*

I just gave Sammy his first taste of "real" food today, too! I'm also glad I ignored the advice of my mom (who wanted me to start him on cereal at a month) and my doctor (who wanted him started at 3 1/2 months) and waited until I knew we were both ready.
