The Last Month.

I feel like October flew by. I don't even know where we were or what happened. It all happened so freaking fast. Did we move to Ohio in October? Or was that September? I really can't even remember. Either way, here we are. We lived at my mom's for a week, then moved in to a crummy apartment for three weeks, went to Pennsylvania for a little over a week since my grandpa passed away and then we moved into our new house where we live now. Whew.

The girls did so well during our trip to PA. I was kinda nervous to be traveling by myself with both of them, but it went better than I could have imagined. Addison slept almost the entire drive, I talked to my brother for a little bit of the trip and Makayla entertained herself almost the whole drive and fell asleep 30 minutes before we got there. :)

So, while in PA, we got to see all my family, including cousins that I haven't seen in YEARS. Like 15 years. It was really nice to get to see everyone and they all got to meet Makayla, too, which was totally awesome. I love my family. So even though the circumstances were AWFUL, it was great to have a mini reunion.

We obviously had Pop's funeral and burial while in PA. It was brutally sad. I got up at the memorial service and spoke. I read the letter I wrote to Pop and a poem that my cousin wrote for him, too. Then at the end, when I was saying goodbye to him, I broke down and started bawling. I just couldn't really believe that was my grandpa. It didn't even look like him. It was so hard.

The burial was a few days later and since my grandpa served in WWII in the Army, he had a military burial...21 gun salute, Taps, the whole nine yards. It was a privilege to watch. It makes me even more proud to have served my country in the Air Force. I was bawling the whole time, of course. The girls were so great during the whole thing. My mom said that it was like Makayla knew it was a solemn time...she only whined once and that was when the first set of guns went off. I don't know if any of you have ever seen a 21 gun salute, but it is astounding. They have 7 men and they shoot the guns off at the same time, 3 times. Immediately after, they play Taps, which is the song for fallen comrades. They used to play it every night in Basic Training and we'd have to stand at attention. Gets me every time. And it was even harder this time because it had SO much meaning.

Also, last Friday night, I chopped my hair off! I cut 12 inches off, dude. I've been wanting to do it for a while and my aunt, my mom and my cousin were all talking about getting their hair cut, so I decided that was the time to do it. And boy is it short! It's like 2 inches in the back now. HA! I love it, though. My mom said it makes me look way grown up, which is nice. And it is SO easy to maintain. I literally dry it off with a towel, brush it, throw some product in, mess with it for 30 seconds and I'm done. Easy peasy! It's really nice to have easy hair when you have no time to do anything to it and with two kids, that is so me. I wore my hair up in a bun every single day anyway, so it looks way better now.

We came back home last Saturday. My mom stayed in PA and came back with me and the girls. It was so great to have her there to talk to and to help me out. The girls did wonderful on the way back, too. I have some amazing daughters, that's for sure.

So since we've been home, it's been non-stop unpacking, cleaning, sorting, etc. I feel like I haven't stopped going since I've gotten back, yet I've hardly even left the house. It's kinda nuts.

Adam's family is coming in tomorrow and I'm totally excited! We need to get groceries and clean this place, though. Most of the boxes are unpacked, but some stuff still needs to be put away, including mounds and mounds of laundry. It's never ending, I swear!

I've been getting a lot of review and giveaway business for my blog, too. It makes me so happy. I love doing it and it doesn't seem like work to me, which is awesome. So I've got a couple reviews to write tonight. :)
